About Daniel Gessel

Daniel Gessel is a freelance photographer with a particular interest in sports photography. He is recently graduated from Wesleyan University where he continues to work for Wesleyan Athletics and photographs various sporting events. Many of his photos have been prominently displayed on the Wesleyan Athletics instagram page and website. Multiple of his photos have appeared on the front page and within the Wesleyan University newspaper, The Wesleyan Argus. At Wesleyan, Daniel also takes photos for the men’s and women’s ultimate frisbee teams, Nietzch Factor and 2025 Division III National Champions, Vicious Circles. In addition to sports photography at Wesleyan, Daniel took photos for Fremad Amager, a soccer team in the Danish 2nd Division, while studying abroad in Copenhagen in 2024. Daniel has also done event photography for the Wesleyan University Chabad and for Art on the Mend. His awards include two first in class prizes at the Arlington County Fair in nature and sports small color prints. One of Daniel’s photos was also chosen as a finalist for the 2026 World Photography Awards in ice hockey.
